Pascal’s Canadian Adventure

CH Northrock’s Athos Pascal

Pacal has had a couple of visits to Canada this past spring and summer.  He is such a great dog and we are delighted to have had the opportunity to spend some time with him.  Earlier this year in April, Pascal came to Ontario to have his health clearances done - his hips are OFA good, elbows normal and he has received his eye, thyroid and heart clearances as well.

Pascal (CH Northrock’s Athos Pascal) is one of the Coco and Dougy puppies.  He lives in the United States with his co-owners Josh Bandoch and Maria Rogacheva.  You can read more about him on his page.

In July Pascal returned to Canada to be shown.  Our family loves this dog so much.  We took some photos while out on a hike with him - he is a good natured dog and a joy to be around.  We had a wonderful time enjoying nature him.

Pascal quickly finished his championship going Best of Breed at the Muskoka Kennel Club each show entered.  Pascal was piloted to his wins by his handler and new friend, Peter Scott. We’re grateful to the judges for recognizing Pascal’s quality and delighted that he now has his championship. Congratulations and many thanks to Josh and Maria - he is a lovely dog!

Northrock's Athos Pascal

This blog post celebrates one of the puppies from the Northrock "A" litter.  Born on August 4, 2012 to FCC/Can CH Barbugaulois Daragon x CH Bayport Coco Chanel.

Pascal was our Mr. Blue.  He was the firstborn puppy in the litter a litter of 11 with 5 more males and 5 females to follow.

In October of that year Pascal went to live in Providence, Rhode Island with Maria and Josh.  They have given him a wonderful life and we are so thankful to them!  Pascal is a happy and social dog who gets lots of walks in their busy town.  He is a favourite among the shopkeepers and they often keep cookies to give to him when he comes in their stores to say hello.  Josh and Maria are often stopped while out on their walks and Pascal enjoys all of the attention he receives.  Josh often takes Pascal to work with him and everyone in the office enjoys when he comes to visit.

I put together this little video with a collection of photos and videos that Maria and Josh have been sending me in their update emails.  I hope you enjoy watching it.  For those of you that have Barbets of your own I'm sure you will identify.  His owners taught Pascal lots of tricks.  The Barbet is very intelligent and they love to learn new things!  Try teaching something new to your Barbet. You will be surprised at how quickly he or she picks up the new behaviour.  For those of you that do not have a Barbet but are curious as to what the breed is like I hope this small glimpse into Pascal's world will help to give you an idea.

Many thanks to Josh and Maria for all of the love and care they give to Pascal.  Cheers to many more adventures with this wonderful Barbet!!!

New CKC Champion title for “Kelly” Northrock’s Anchors Aweigh WC

Kelly had a fantastic weekend at Nickel District Kennel Club.  Thank you to Breeder/Judge, Wendy Schira for awarding our girl a Group 4.  This gives Kelly her Championship with points garnered entirely from the group!

Judges Alan Ewles and Guy Jeavons each awarded Kelly Group 2 placements.  Thank you judges for these placements. We are so thrilled with our homebred girl’s success!  Once again Kelly was expertly handled by Peter Scott.

Kelly’s Show Debut!

Thrilled to report that our girl “Kelly” - Northrock’s Anchors Aweigh WC had a great start her first weekend out showing.  On Saturday February 8th, 2014 Kelly took the breed over a male special and went on to be awarded a Group First in a large Sporting Group under Hungarian judge Dr. Levente Miklos. On Sunday Kelly again went Best of Breed over the male special and won the Sporting Group under Canadian judge Mr. John Rowton.  We couldn’t be happier with her success!  Kelly was expertly handled to both wins by Peter Scott.  She is enjoying the show scene and is having lots of fun with Pete.  We are grateful to these judges for recognizing Kelly’s qualities.  Here are her show photos from the weekend.

The Barbet at PawsWay Toronto

This past weekend myself and a bunch of Club Barbet Canada members and their dogs spent the day at the PawsWay which is located on Toronto's waterfront.  It was a gorgeous day with blue skies and sunshine.  The PawsWay held the event in order to show the public a variety of puppies, what they will look like as an adult, and to give educational information that will help them to make an informed, responsible decision about which breed would be a good match for their needs.  It was an excellent opportunity to promote the Barbet, and demonstrate the predictability and advantages of purebred dogs. All of the dogs were very well behaved and wonderful ambassadors of the breed. We all had a great time chatting with the public.  It was obvious to everyone how much we love the Barbet!

What made the day extra special for me was that it was also a reunion of sorts for Northrock families who have puppies from the Dougy x Coco litter (Zoey, Napoleon & Bentley) as well as the from the Chmurnik x Sophie litter (Josie & Cooper).  I feel so blessed that these puppies are in such loving and wonderful homes.  I am also very appreciative that their owners were excited to come down and volunteer their time to support the Club and the PawsWay and help to promote the breed.
