After many years of sharing our Barbet news and writing about the growth and development of our Barbet puppies we retired the blog at the end of 2020. All of the past entries remain posted so feel free to take a look around and scroll through previous posts to get a feel for the breed, our dogs and how we raise our litters. More information about the Barbet (French Water Dog) can be found on our website: www.northrockbarbets.com

We are very much looking forward to watching these puppies grow and develop.

Born April 6, 2016
We are happy to welcome the latest addition to our Northrock family of Barbets. HickoryTavern Epic D'Northrock has come to us from breeder Judy Descutner at Hickory Tavern Farm.
Rex is a special puppy for us as he is by our homebred male CH Northrock's Athos Pascal and out of Judy's CKC/UKC CH Neigenuveux's Ermagarde. The litter that these two Barbets have produced is lovely and I'm very pleased with the consistency and quality that we are seeing in the puppies thus far.
We are grateful to Judy for the wonderful start Rex received. He is a happy and friendly pup who travelled really well on his journey from the States to Canada. Rex is co-owned with John Bonin and Cherise Berman and together we are going to have a lot of fun with this puppy.
Earlier this month I travelled to Hickory, PA to visit with Judy Descutner at Hickory Tavern Farm and see the Pascal x Claire puppies before they began to leave for their new homes. It was a delightful trip and we are both pleased with the promise this litter shows.
Joshua Bandoch and Maria Rogacheva are Pascal's wonderful co-owners. The passion they have for their dog and the breed is evident in all that they have done and continue to do for Pascal. They were very excited for the opportunity to meet these special puppies today.

It was truly a team effort to produce this litter. My sincere thanks to all involved. I am very glad that a Northrock dog has been able to contribute to the careful growth of the Barbet in the US.
We are delighted to welcome the arrival of puppies at Hickory Tavern Farm in PA, USA. This past week CKC/UKC CH Neigenuveaux's Emargarde "Claire" whelped 8 beautiful puppies by CKC CH Northrock's Athos Pascal. A lovely even split of 4 males (3 black, 1 brown) and 4 females (all black). Claire and her puppies are doing wonderfully.
An enormous thank you to Pascal's co-owners Joshua Bandoch and Maria Rogacheva who made Pascal available to breeder Judy Descutner back in February so that this exciting breeding could take place. This is Pascal's first litter and we are looking forward to watching these puppies grow up.
Pacal has had a couple of visits to Canada this past spring and summer. He is such a great dog and we are delighted to have had the opportunity to spend some time with him. Earlier this year in April, Pascal came to Ontario to have his health clearances done - his hips are OFA good, elbows normal and he has received his eye, thyroid and heart clearances as well.
Pascal (CH Northrock’s Athos Pascal) is one of the Coco and Dougy puppies. He lives in the United States with his co-owners Josh Bandoch and Maria Rogacheva. You can read more about him on his page.
In July Pascal returned to Canada to be shown. Our family loves this dog so much. We took some photos while out on a hike with him - he is a good natured dog and a joy to be around. We had a wonderful time enjoying nature him.
Pascal quickly finished his championship going Best of Breed at the Muskoka Kennel Club each show entered. Pascal was piloted to his wins by his handler and new friend, Peter Scott. We’re grateful to the judges for recognizing Pascal’s quality and delighted that he now has his championship. Congratulations and many thanks to Josh and Maria - he is a lovely dog!

This blog post celebrates one of the puppies from the Northrock "A" litter. Born on August 4, 2012 to FCC/Can CH Barbugaulois Daragon x CH Bayport Coco Chanel.
Pascal was our Mr. Blue. He was the firstborn puppy in the litter a litter of 11 with 5 more males and 5 females to follow.
In October of that year Pascal went to live in Providence, Rhode Island with Maria and Josh. They have given him a wonderful life and we are so thankful to them! Pascal is a happy and social dog who gets lots of walks in their busy town. He is a favourite among the shopkeepers and they often keep cookies to give to him when he comes in their stores to say hello. Josh and Maria are often stopped while out on their walks and Pascal enjoys all of the attention he receives. Josh often takes Pascal to work with him and everyone in the office enjoys when he comes to visit.
I put together this little video with a collection of photos and videos that Maria and Josh have been sending me in their update emails. I hope you enjoy watching it. For those of you that have Barbets of your own I'm sure you will identify. His owners taught Pascal lots of tricks. The Barbet is very intelligent and they love to learn new things! Try teaching something new to your Barbet. You will be surprised at how quickly he or she picks up the new behaviour. For those of you that do not have a Barbet but are curious as to what the breed is like I hope this small glimpse into Pascal's world will help to give you an idea.
Many thanks to Josh and Maria for all of the love and care they give to Pascal. Cheers to many more adventures with this wonderful Barbet!!!
